Welcome to the May AU and Plotting Workshop for Phantom Thieves International! This post is intended to help incoming players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as for current players to come up with plots and things they want to accomplish with their character. This is completely optional but players are encouraged to use this post to both establish pre-existing CR and goals for their characters, as well as plan ahead.

I.
Palaces can suck hard, especially when it’s shaped around some really sick idea of what a butcher’s shop looks like. You’ve seen enough self-serving pork and dancing knives to last for a lifetime. The shadows are on guard, and the locks that’s needed to be undone to progress makes sense… but is really gross to handle, hope you got the stomach for it.
II.
FINALS! It’s time to cram, cram, cram or just resign yourself to failure and cry. Hopefully you did study, otherwise, you’ll be in your books non-stop. Find a study partner, take a break in the cafe, study while having a few pints, nobody’s stopping you, unless you’re a minor of course.
Or you could try to cheat… just don’t get caught.
III.
Score! For means you can figure out, you managed to get a daypass for the place with the mouse and the very efficient lawyers, the lines are long, and some of the fans are… intense, but it’s a going to be a wonderful day with plenty of sunshine and enough cheer to turn a grumpy into a happy, maybe. Some people would consider it a challenge….
IV.
LA is many things, but among them is a city in love with movies (or the dollars they bring in from Hollywood). With marquees posted on every street corner, the next big release is always just around the corner. Those looking for a novel night at the movies might try the the Montalbán Theater’s rooftop viewing. What better way to catch a movie than out among the stars (on a building in the middle of downtown LA and all the traffic that implies)
V.
A host of the most popular restaurants in LA will be hosting the Masters of Taste luxury food event at the Rose Bowl, and it’s guaranteed to be mouthwatering. The best food a Phantom Thief could hope for will be right here in one convenient location. You have the money to get in, right?

Hear Ye Hear Ye! Put on thy pantaloons and partake of turkey legs in the Renaissance Faire in San Gabriel Valley. Enjoy the sight of anachronistic merriment of fire jugglers, knock someone silly tournaments, or if you’re a bit more practical, wander over to the booths and check out the smiths forging away, and pick up a weapon to use in the meta-verse.
II.
It’s that time of year again, where music lovers and artists with money to burn flock to the Empire Polo Club for Coachella - a music and arts festival that headlines the hottest acts and is the place to be seen, and especially to be seen being environmentally friendly. It’s of course expensive as all get out, but there’s always a way in by hook or by crook, but a good time is certain long as you stay hydrated!
III.
A popular format in Japan and spreading all over, Los Angeles is now home to a new Cat Cafe, operated with the cooperation of the humane society! Have a cup of coffee, pet a kitty, donate to a good cause
IV.
With the NBA season in full swing, the Lakers are regularly playing at the Staples Center. Tickets aren’t cheap but if you’re looking for some fast-paced action featuring some of LA’s finest athletes, you can’t do much worse than a Lakers game.
V.
The situation with the ICE and local immigrant communities has been tense of late and with rumors that they are receiving assistance from the LAPD, the community is up in arms and massive protests have been taking place downtown. Are you here to protest? Trying to get through? Are you with the cops? Be careful, things could get ugly.

I.
Irish eyes are smiling - or crying on the days surrounding the 17th of March, a sea of green flood downtown as route-altering parades and block parties pop up all over the city, corned beef is king, and every drink is green, even the ones that really shouldn’t be. Oh, beware - there’s some people who still hasn’t grown up and believe it’s their duty to pinch anyone who refuse to wear the color.
Many bars are having beer festivals of local and imported drinks along with live bands, while many places are creating cabbage or corned abominations to get into the season. There’s even Irish stepdancing lessons to be had!
II.
School’s for the week, and for the college set that means one thing only: getting rip-roaringly drunk off of cheap booze, party at the beach, and hopefully not uploading unfortunate pictures to facebook before you sober up. The city’s bars take advantage with experimental cocktails and shots at a low price, and while the water might be too cold to do a lot of swimming in, the weather’s good enough to beach to the beach for drunk volleyball or just drunk partying.
Whether you want to join in on the fun or try to avoid the mess, it’s very hard to get away from the chaos!
III.
The seasons - or whatever passes for seasons in LA are starting to turn and the weather is heating up. With raucous college students making their way to LA beaches in droves for Spring Break, the weather in Mementos is Inebriated. Shadows will lurch and stagger noisily around Mementos, and will be more friendly and less discerning to boot!
IV.
The Descano Gardens are holding a Cherry Blossom festival and month-long celebration of Japanese culture. Guests can witness origami demonstrations and take part in flower-arranging workshops in these beautiful gardens, with guided tours throughout the month. Looking for a beautiful setting for a date or to find some artistic inspiration? Part of the local Japanese community and helping out? It’ll probably be pretty busy, the Cherry Blossoms are gorgeous this year but they’re only in bloom for so long.
V.
For the second year in a row, the Smorgasborg Market has come to Santa Monica Pier! This cheap (for LA) event brings a variety of food and shops right to Santa Monica Pier giving you plentiful access to good food, drinks, and fun in the sun. Looking for a good meal? Ready to show off that beach bod you’ve been working on this winter when LA temperatures were low enough that you might not want to go to the beach all the time? Now’s your chance!

I.
February is Valentine’s day, and for many people it’s a time to celebrate by booking expensive restaurants, being obnoxiously affectionate, and wiping out the stock of condoms and other interesting products in stores around the country. For some, however, it’s a time to be extremely angry and resentful at the rest of the world. Are you one of these folks spending your time at a pub or on campus sulking? Maybe you’re getting more exotic and setting fire to something an ex gave you, or maybe the best cure for the no-date blues is slam poetry, because clearly when you’ve been single this long not even slam poetry sounds like a bad idea.
Or maybe you’re just trying to keep your dumb bitter friend from doing something stupid.
II.
For those partaking in the more traditional activities of Valentine’s day, a number of restaurants are offering specials to entice you to pick them. Restaurants that might not normally be considered as “Valentine’s Day” fare are really pulling out all the stops to court your business, a local Indian Curry House is giving out long-stemmed roses and a local KBBQ restaurant has a 10% off meals for two. The nicer restaurants, of course, are booked solid so if you don’t have a reservation, you’re not even getting in the door.
III.
The Egyptian Exposition: the Treasures of Tutankhamun has hit LA and is, as usual, a big hit. Now’s your chance to go out and see these ancient artifacts up close and personal. Are you here for a date? Just indulging your inner history nerd? Heaven forbid, chaperoning a brood of screaming schoolchildren who want to destroy things? What brings you here today?
IV.
In what is surely a sign of the apocalypse, it actually snowed in LA today. There’s about two inches on the ground and the city and it has rendered the entire area completely stopped… some might say “frozen” before others in the immediate vicinity deservedly punch them in the face for that. Wherever you were hoping to be today, it’s not happening, although a number of transplants from other, colder states have probably hit the roads and are loudly denouncing wimpy LA drivers (a good 5% are expected to be involved in an auto accident before the day is through). All that said though, it’s a rare opportunity, maybe you want to build a snowman?
V.
While the focus is on Todd Woodrow Jr.’s Palace, the Phantom Thieves can’t neglect their other duties, and this means delving into Mementos to change more hearts. With the impending rally, the atmosphere in Mementos is tense and volatile, there are some powerful shadows roaming and starting fights with other shadows, consuming them if they succeed and growing stronger from the action. Have you just come to the scene of a shadow being eaten? Are you now staring down a much stronger shadow? Have you started running away yet? Might want to get on that because it looks like it’s coming for YOU.
