Testrun Prompts

I.

February is Valentine’s day, and for many people it’s a time to celebrate by booking expensive restaurants, being obnoxiously affectionate, and wiping out the stock of condoms and other interesting products in stores around the country. For some, however, it’s a time to be extremely angry and resentful at the rest of the world. Are you one of these folks spending your time at a pub or on campus sulking? Maybe you’re getting more exotic and setting fire to something an ex gave you, or maybe the best cure for the no-date blues is slam poetry, because clearly when you’ve been single this long not even slam poetry sounds like a bad idea.

Or maybe you’re just trying to keep your dumb bitter friend from doing something stupid.

II.

For those partaking in the more traditional activities of Valentine’s day, a number of restaurants are offering specials to entice you to pick them. Restaurants that might not normally be considered as “Valentine’s Day” fare are really pulling out all the stops to court your business, a local Indian Curry House is giving out long-stemmed roses and a local KBBQ restaurant has a 10% off meals for two. The nicer restaurants, of course, are booked solid so if you don’t have a reservation, you’re not even getting in the door.

III.

The Egyptian Exposition: the Treasures of Tutankhamun has hit LA and is, as usual, a big hit. Now’s your chance to go out and see these ancient artifacts up close and personal. Are you here for a date? Just indulging your inner history nerd? Heaven forbid, chaperoning a brood of screaming schoolchildren who want to destroy things? What brings you here today?

IV.

In what is surely a sign of the apocalypse, it actually snowed in LA today. There’s about two inches on the ground and the city and it has rendered the entire area completely stopped… some might say “frozen” before others in the immediate vicinity deservedly punch them in the face for that. Wherever you were hoping to be today, it’s not happening, although a number of transplants from other, colder states have probably hit the roads and are loudly denouncing wimpy LA drivers (a good 5% are expected to be involved in an auto accident before the day is through). All that said though, it’s a rare opportunity, maybe you want to build a snowman?

V.

While the focus is on Todd Woodrow Jr.’s Palace, the Phantom Thieves can’t neglect their other duties, and this means delving into Mementos to change more hearts. With the impending rally, the atmosphere in Mementos is tense and volatile, there are some powerful shadows roaming and starting fights with other shadows, consuming them if they succeed and growing stronger from the action. Have you just come to the scene of a shadow being eaten? Are you now staring down a much stronger shadow? Have you started running away yet? Might want to get on that because it looks like it’s coming for YOU.

Takeshi is at the museum, but trying to avoid notice. It's hard for someone who is blond, 5'11" and has shoulders that look like you could build a castle on to be discrete, but he's making an effort. He's got a spiral notebook in one hand, and is staring at the mummy of a 3300 year old Egyptian king while drawing.

God forbid someone he KNOWS notice him here. Maybe if he looks elaborately bored, no one will talk to him.

Takeshi just threw a snowball at you. Think fast!

V

Takeshi can be an asshole at times. He can be a bully. He knows this, but is having trouble admitting it.

BUT.

He's also huge, and he's traded out the various supernatural powers a lot of other Infiltrators get for superhuman strength and toughness, and he's standing between you and a charging shadow, in a three point stance.

"Come on you fucker. I DARE you to try and get past me!"

Hiding behind him, offering fire support, or trying to get him to run are all viable options, though some will certainly be more difficult than others.

VI

"Yo, what the fuck."

Lost in Mementos for possibly the first time, Takeshi is totally out of his depth. Several shadows closed in on the bewildered young man as he backed up until his back was to the wall.

But he's also either been someone who has directly bullied you in the past, or who has stood by idly while one of his friends bullied you. Do you want to help him, or do you want to let him feel some of what he made you feel for a bit first?
