AU Planning Meme - Pre-Game

Welcome to the first AU Workshop for Phantom Thieves International! This post is intended to help incoming players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go. This is completely optional but players are encouraged to use this post to establish some pre-existing CR and goals for their characters.

CURRENT EVENTS

The following events will be occuring in the setting as the game begins:

-There’s an open casting call for extras for the production of an artsy film by a well-known Hollywood producer.
-Pop superstar Leanna Rapide is playing at the Staples Center. Tickets are almost entirely sold out.
-There has been an uptick in vandalism in Chinatown and Japantown, including anti-Asian graffiti as well as light damages to local independent shops and restaurants.
-Tensions remain high as police continue to conduct drug raids in poorer neighborhoods not seen since the height of the war on drugs.

AU History Blurb:His cannon backstory doesn't actually need to be changed much.

Wayne's an orphan boy, whose been passed from a few foster homes until he ended up with a family in the city. Instead of waiting to be picked up and moved again, he bailed and ran off to live on the streets.
Tentative Plans for character: Either the cannon- A good person takes him under their wing and he ends up slowly becoming a responsible guardian who looks out for people.

Or he could go full ruthless vigilante route without Rose reigning him in.
Pre-Established CR: Delinquent friends! Other kids that hang out on the streets for him to watch out for. Also he probably knows some police officers and city workers who go through the shady parts of town.
Desired CR: Any. My plan for him is going to change based on who talks to him really.

Rin is pretty much a delinquent herself, albeit of the anarchist punk variety. She might not be a good influence on Wayne but this is pretty much the exact kind of pre-established CR I'm looking for myself.

This could go hilariously badly. Cause I didn't mention it up there, but he's more likely to do something if it's a girl telling him what to do.

Out of curiosity, how old do you intend for him to be? I'm probably putting Rin at about 19 or so, and how she would interact with him would depend some on if she considers him a peer or someone younger than her.

I've been going with 19 for him as well.

It'd make him 84 by the end of cannon and he doesn't really look that old. But that doesn't really matter here.

Cool! It'll be fun to have some more peer-aged CR for her, since it's likely that they'll mutually encourage each other to do dumb shit then, haha.

There's no way this can go wrong. It's going to be glorious.

IT ALSO JUST OCCURRED TO ME that my plan was to have Rin living in the smallest, shittiest apartment, buuut she would absolutely let anyone she knows from hanging on the streets crash there whenever they wanted despite the complete lack of room. So, that's a thing too.

You can offer him the couch, but he'll make you take money for it. He's not freeloading.

That works for Rin, seeing as she loves having money. (Of course, she wouldn't be expecting anything in return, so hopefully Wayne is prepared for a lot of dumb tsundere "O-of course you'll pay me back! It's not like I was offering anything for free, I'm not a charity service!!" from her.)

Except that to end up with him walking off and sleeping in an alley somewhere a few times.

Street kid persona gang ahoy!

Anyways, Lyria is somewhat a street kid hiding from an underground crime gang, but she's perfect for Wayne to watch out for while she will just probably befriend him and be a light of sunshine on him. So they could definitely know each other!

She hits all his weaknesses.

He'd look out for her and give her things. Those sweets? He doesn't like them, you take them or he's going to throw them away.
